So It Begins...
Well This will be an ongoing write-up for me. I will be installing a 4A-GE Silvertop 20V into my 92 Celica. For those you you who are not familiar with this it comes from a Levin AE101.

This will going going into this car a 92 Celica ST.

Since there is very little aftermarket support for the stock 4A-FE, my options were limited to say the least. So as a start I'll swap the motor so to give the car some nice VVT that I can play with. The motor is stated at 160@7400. Although this number is overrated at best. It most probably ranges from 140-150. Along with this swap I will be using Megasquirt*N*Spark to control both timing and ignition. And as I have read should be around 150-155HP. I will find out exact numbers when the swap is done.
I am on a budget so things will go one at a time. So first things first, Remove old engine (which had a soark plug break off inside the cylinder) from car. That is now 90% done. I have two more motor mounts and it's out.
I am now in the process of cleaning up the 20v to be transplanted. From what I see looks fine for just sitting there for a few months. As of now, all belts will be replaced, water pump, oil pump, oil filter, oil, spark plugs, and clutch.
Also because I am using megasquirt, I will be using a Ford EDIS system which the ECU can control. I will be posting pics of how and what is required for this. Although the thought of using ford parts on my car is not particularly what I would want to do, it does work well with this motor from what I've seen.
I will have pics up of the process of doing this swap, Along with all the information I have already collected in planning for this. I.E. Wiring diagrams, Vacuum Line Diagrams, Maps for ECU, etc.

It's a motor from a toyota levin or trueno. It has 20 valves with VVT so it works like the honda VTEC, but starts after 4400 and adjusts the cams so you can go up to 7800 redline, peak HP is at 7400. The hondas start at 5500 I believe. This type of motor is also used in the Toyota Formula Atlantic Series, That version goes up to 12-16K rpm and 240HP N/A. Real nice if you have 15K to spend on it. But the motor was the most economical choice for me to swap into my car. There is not much demand for this motor besides those with older corollas (AE86) to use for drifting, I.E. Japanese cartoon called Initial D which feature's a trueno with the 20v. This motor is almost a direct drop in to my celica, bieng as the 4A-FE comes in my car I don't have to change motor mounts. Just some extension to the 20V wire harness. Which I have to modify anyway to use with my ECU.

Ricksta, I went and replied to your turbo thread. Try not to hijack other's threads with your own questions, unless they pertain directly to the question they first asked.
Also, the Silvertop 20v motor, is another option that is "different". Its 160hp or so, and requires around 8,000RPM to atain that number. However the 3sgte is about the same cost and will make minimum 200hp. Normally people do the silvertop swaps to get a little more reliable power, than gain all out speed.

I think the 3sgte would have been alot better. Stock 3s is real reliable. 20v will probably last longer like any N/A motor will over a FI motor. Post plenty of pics on the swap. Nice to see more active celica locals on the forum.
