ROM Tune is here!

ATS racing just finished rom tuning their own house car. The results arent uber yet. But what is great is that they can do it at all! Now if only they would let enthalpy be their tuner.................

ATS Rom tune with 550's!!
Maybe it CAN be done. Here is a dyno graph of my tuning, the stuff below ~3300 rpm is closed loop. The wide band was in the downpipe and the stock O2 was hanging in open air, so the ECU thought he car was really lean and was dumping fuel. Once it popped into open loop it did really well as you can see.

Needless to say the car is fast.

Here are the mods:
JDM stock 93 motor
Greddy IC
Profec EO-1
Spec Stage 2 clutch
intake
KO 2.5" downpipe
no exhaust (customer is installing a 3" TKO tomorrow, all he had now was the stock b-pipe and a cruddy JDM muffler, so to tune it simulating a free flowing exhaust like the TKO we pulled it off at the downpipe)
ATS CT27 50 trim
ATS Rom tune
Walbro fuel pump
Gen 3 540cc injectors
22 psi (yes that is alot)
50/50 race gas mix

The pump gas power was really nice too 263 rwhp at 1.05 bar!
Various powwer/boost:
1 bar = 255 rwhp
1.05 bar = 263 rwhp
1.4 bar = 295 rwhp
1.5 bar = 310 rwhp, This pull was 4th gear, all others were 3rd gear. There was a 1 psi spike in the mid-range on this pull.

At this point this option is not available via mail order. Let me get a few under my belt and make sure this was not an anomolie (spelling?) and I'll start offering them.

Aaron

I think thats cool, they must have the software for the prom chips. Techtom sells the rom boards on their site for about $380. Sard uses the same boards for their rom tunes. I don't think that it's very advantageous if your still using a vane airflow meter though. Unlike Nissan and mass airflow sensors there isn't a much larger vane airflow meter that you can upgrade to. I would think that the only alternative would be using a Gen III ecu and a map sensor.

This is true, but still, any ability to tune the stock ecu is better than nothing. I'm sure at some point a genIII solution will be there given the responses ATS has been giving in that thread.

It will work for celica people too. I am not that impressed, yet. I don't see what the point of tuning the Gen 2 ECU which still has the AFM. Find a way to cheaply get rid of that peice of shit, and produce good results and then I will be impressed. Why can't they waste their time on a Gen 3 ecu? There is a lot more to gain from it! Maybe find a way to use the Gen 3 ECU to run a Gen 2 engine.

well as far as a bigger flapper door style maf, i think either the 5mge or the 7mge mafs were bigger than the standard mr2. so there might be more to gain.

ok, why aren't they compatable? care to elaborate why? has anyone even tried? maf upgrades should work no matter what style of maf it is, but the only way to get them to work properly is to have the rom tune set up for it. so if its a different ohm, or signal strength you can change that in the rom tune.
