Well, if they hold true to what they said bout developing a Gen3 solution soon, then I think its a major step for the owners of those motors.

some ppl have tried rx7 maf chips and stuck them in the stock housing on the 3s but it has ALWAYS ended in motor death. whether or not this can be attributed to the maf or not is unkown but its a hell of a coinsidence. Now... the reason we cant use Other mafs completely is bc toyota in all there wisdom designed our mafs voltage to be reversed from that of the mainstream. Dunno why... sux tho.

I honestly do not know about using with a new rom board such as a sard patch or something. But if your going to that length... then as I said... y not ditch the bitch completely?

Yea, I agree with mr2 driver. If your gonna do it , make it complete. Even to swap to a 3rd gen ecu ,harness, map sensor and Ignitor ect.ect. into a 2nd gen will cost you as much as a full stand alone . Already thought of this . But it would be good on a full full 3rd gen where you could really make a difference. There is really no easy fix to get rid of the afm.Alot of people will by it though because thats all they care about anyway, is a somewhat reliable 300 hp .
still didn't answer my question, i am talking about useing TOYOTA maf's, not mazda. so if they can rom tune the 2nd gen, then you can get a little more power out of a bigger maf from a n/a 7mge or the 5mge. i know the flapper maf's suck but i am still in the right so either go stand alone or get off the pot. now what about rom tuning 7mgte ecu's?
