thats gotta be some of the stupidest shit ive ever heard...

a NA Auto Bad bodied Rod knocked MK3 is worth NOTHING...i dont care if you are a god with engines...to get that into any worthwhile or fun shape would cost at least 2k....

secondly...the 7m engines are nowhere near crap...people who dont take care of them, dont know how to drive a car, dont know how to maintain a car, and simply put dont belong in a supra think they are crappy engines... yes ill give to you the fact that from the factory they have a headgasket problem...oh no not that! an easy day job with a cometic headgasket and some arp studs and you dont have to worry about it ever again.... about 300 dollars later that problem is solved...

any other problems are 99% the fault of the operator in one form or another...hell ive had my fair share of fuckups also...including a recent one that cost me 200 bucks...but im knowledgable and man enough to admit it was my fault not the engines.

as for the 1jz being more powerful then the 7m...wow a whole 50hp due to the higher stock boost levels...congrats....why no talk of the shitty ceramic turbos? as thats the 1jz's downfall...or maybe you didnt know that... and if you find everything you need to do a 1jz swap for anywhere NEAR 1800 bucks...i would be freaking amazed....and im not talkin one time only hookups...im talking anyone can get it.... i have yet to see a 1jz over the 600hp mark..... funny though cause ive seen a ton of 7ms over that mark...including a 700hp STOCK internals one.

this whole 1jz trend is starting to get annoying...dont get me wrong the 1jz is a great engine and has great potential..but its not better then the 7m...they both have advantages and disadvantages...so choose whats best for you from that.

/end rant

I like my engine, it was a good investement for me. If you take the number of 7m's running around to 1j's running around then you will understand why there are not that many powerful ones around. When SF is up i'll get you the dyno sheet of the stock longblock 1j running 830whp. When we were building chris' 7m shortblock to hold over 800whp the total tab went over 3k alone. Thats alot of money just in a short block to hold the power the 1j all read has on stock internals. (now how long it will last is a different story) Edit - Link 830hp 1J Dyno Thread

Also it may be 50 crank rated hp but I thought MOST stock 7m's were right around 190-210whp? I put down 280hp as many others have too stock. That would be a 70-90whp gain. Yah the turbos suck but how many ct26's make over 350hp?
I really cannot think of any complaints about the 1j other than the cost of getting it and labor involved in making it work. There is nothing wrong with the 7m but if you have money burning a hole in your pocket and you like wireing get the 1j.

ok poptarts, damn, if a mk3 has ABS, it has a diff, it has nothing to do with the TEMS. look at the plate on the fire wall it should ahve a bunch of codes on the bottom of the plate in line. the last 2 are diff and tranny, i go and read me the diff code and i'll tell you wether or not the car has a lsd. it has a 4.30 with lsd.

that trick only works on pre-89. all the 89+ cars i have dont have the firewall build tag. only the 86.5-88 have these tags. and the car MUST be the "Sport" model to have the 4.30 LSD, otherwise its an open Diff.

I knew about the firewall badge....and I remember seeing something like one...but it never registered with me that it could in fact be pre89.

Blah blah other reasons too, but ultimately I think this car is "no"..
