Exclamation MR2 Guru's.. help me out here..

look, i've got a 92 MR2 5SFE. i've rebuilt it with a little help from my ma's ex boyfriend (all he did was the timing.. i don't know that too well). so i think that he purposely messed it up so i couldn't get it running. it's not like i'm not trying though. but all it's doing is free-spinning. help please.

What do you mean by free-spinning? Will it start at all? Was in running well before you rebuilt it? By rebuilt, do you mean that you took the motor completely apart?

rebuilt - took motor completely apart; yes. free spinng in the fact that the timing is so off that the intake and exhaust valves are all opening at the same time, so it's getting no compression (i believe that's right). yes, i've had it running before again when my ma's boyfriend at the time was around, and when he left that's when things went to shit. which led me to believe he had something to do with it.

Have you check to see if the rods where still connected to the crank? You can take the oilpan off and check there. I used 5SFE engine and trans will run you less then $500 in any case.

dude what are you talking about rods dont just fall off , I would be willing to bet based on the very little input that you have given us on the situation that it is not making any compression because of the timming I know that just changing the timming belt positon will not work you will need to set cam seperation by pulling the trailing cam out and set it , if you pull your oil pan off and check your rods it will be funny as hell.

I belive he was either being sarcastic or possiblly that the BF or whomever may have taken the bottom journals off the rods .
