Just curious how competitive it is, and what class you run. Plus I'm interested to know how you talked them into letting you run since I'm about 99% sure SCCA does not allow SUV's to autocross.

The one thing I regret about getting rid of my old Focus was how well it did at an autocross. Sure, my minor modifications put it onto StreetMod with the Supras, Cobras, etc...but it was still fun. Somehow I doubt the xB will do well if they even allow it to run due to its seemingly high center of gravity. I have the autocrossing itch again, yet have nothing to drive.

I know, I know...and I feel bad because I have a personal policy of not flaming people in the internet so I owe you an apology...I just get frustrated because Toyota, who once made the mkiv Supra is now making FWD 1.5 litre boxes and people are racing them. It would be like if Hersheys started making sardines. HOWEVER, I appreciate a sleeper more than anything and I get no greater joy than watching a "slow" car take down a suppposedly fast car. So if, in fact, your Scion is beating Honda products, than I think you rock, and keep up the good work!

To be back on topic, it will be a sad day if Toyota does kill the Celica.

The Tc looks like some kind of guppy goldfish thing. How that sports sedan thing could ever replace the Celica is beyond me...

I do not see what is so spectacular about the new Celica. Never hear anything especially good about that car. Not trying to start anything, I'm just curious why Toyota should hang onto it.

it was the base platform for the supra, mr2 mkII, and for the matrix three really succesful vehicals not to mention the celica is the most sold toyota sports car, there have never been any major problems w/ engine or tranny that could be labeled as a common celica problem(to my knowledge) so it would be in toyotas best intrest to not get rid of the celica!

Fun facts about new Celica:

Wonderful 2ZZ engine.

Brakes that are among the best in the world (60-0 in 112 ft I believe).

Great suspension setup that ranks up with the ITR.

I suppose this is all subjective. I currently own a 92 Celica and will be purchasing a newer car this summer. And the first thing I'll look at is a 7th gen GT-S.

They are wonderful cars.

I know what you mean about never hearing much about them. Now there are many choices people could make about buying a newer sports/sporty car. These came out after the 7th gen. Think about it, you could get a 2004 GT-S loaded for 25k, or buy an rx-8. I would probably choose the rx-8!

I think that the fact that everyone underestmates them so much makes them all the better.

Hmmmm according to everything I read, it will have the 2az-fe 2.4l from the 4cyl Camry....and a turbo will not be available, but rather a supercharger that bumps HP to around 200. BTW, this means FWD.

Here.. http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/fu...age&src=future

Other driver-oriented standard equipment includes a 160-horsepower 2.4-liter engine, 5-speed manual transmission, 17-inch 6-spoke alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and anti-lock brakes. A dealer-installed supercharger will be available to boost the power output to 200 horsepower.
