mr2??
i m 16 and dont have a lot of $$ so i wanted 2 ask som questions about the mr2.
i have a 85 volvo now with a 1.9l engien.
but 2day i saw a 89 mr2 with 240000 miles on it for a grand.
i know i can get it for lik 900 if i ask .
it had no cd player (not big cuz i got a nice 1 in the volvo .)
a gt sterring wheel
and raceing pedals.
i think the engien might hav some stuff but i cold not get the back hood 2 pop.
u think it would b a good buy?
i would race autocross with it .
i would put suspention and rims and tires on it if i would buy it (mor stuff later but thats it just 2 start)
thanks
ralph

also my 2nd supra had 244k miles when the odo broke and i still autoxed it, and it ran well.
depending on the condition of the car $900 may be a good price, if it was well keeped, looks clean, no aparent wrecks ide get it. but ive seen many 1st gen mr2's for a lot less that need little work to become a nice car.

I can name off the top of my head multiple 200k+ mile autocross cars that have trophied at Nationals.
If it's in good condition, go for it!

I'm a smartass because I can provide proof that you're just talking out of your butt? cool.
Karen Kraus - Camaro (278k)
Mike Johnson - Camaro
Diane Lapusnak - Camaro
Barry Saney - Civic
Will Kalman - Escort
David Avard - Protege
Ted Godett - Corvette
Ricky Shank - Civic (290,000 miles)
Jeff Cashmore - Celica
3 of those people have National Championships. Most of the others have AT LEAST trophied.

Kirk, im kinda with pseudo on this, ok not kinda, im very much with him on this. not only did i autox, but i drag raced and road corsed a 244k+ mile car. (Supra)
he can very well autox that mr2, its a good platform, if the motor is shabby its and easy swap into a better motor for autox with less miles. (redtop from a FX16 or geo storm) there are many cars racing with lots of miles.
usually a 16 year old that says he wants rims is a ricer looking for crome but in this dudes case i think he maybe a real driver in the making. he knows his money limits. hes intrested in autox and suspention, and hasent mentioned power at all, so im guessing if he gets the car and follows his goals. he will look for some light rims that are wider then the stockers. those stockers are small too. so an upgrade could help there.
I say more power to this dude. get the car.
BTW i stripped out the un nessasary parts of my 1st gen mr2. and got it so light that my brother and I could pick up one end of the car completly off the ground. i would guess that 6 people could pick up and walk around with the car.
