Also who's to say your friend has an 8 second car? has he ever run it? IF NOT then maybe he DOES beat the hell out of it and it runs 9's, he's just Ricer Powering the 8's cause hes "launching easy"

Its POINTLESS to baby a car on the dragstrip, if you want high end then go to an airport with a 10000 ft runway and try it there.... Its not like there is 0 stress on the driveline while going fast in higher gears... your highest gears put HUGE stress on the transmission, ask mattback aboutwith his old Z. he kept blowing trannies doing bridge runs because of his redicilous torque.

the car in question isjohn shepherd who runs a 9.08 in a 1G AWD Talon TSi (and yes, it is street driven), there is an in-car video of him making one of his low 9 second passes that shows its obvious that he eases the car out of the hole (and still cuts 1.4 60', figure that out) and lifts to shift, uses all factory driveline parts, and didn't break any tranny, any transfer cases, and rear ends, drive shafts, so on so forth, last season when he was the IDRC Street Tire Champion, this on a car that has a supposedly "weak" driveline, i dunno about you, but i'd be happy if i could drive my car to the track, not have to beat the shit out of it to run low 9's, and drive it home without breaking anything

I dont care who's car it is. and what competitions they've won OR their 60' time... If he applied more force he could get a 1.2 or 1.3 60' time and overall be faster............ There is no arguement to this, faster times = more stress. if you havent maxxed out the stress you arent going as fast as you possibly can!
