Minimum post count for F.S. section?

we had started to do something like that, i had installed a classified system that required a little bit more effort to use than just throwing up a post in a forum, but everyone had a shit fit over it and it was canned. Part of the reason for it was to help with this stuff.
We have some changes coming to the classifieds, but nothing that will stop scammers or thieves from using it. There is no checkbox we can put on something that says "click here if you are a thief or a scammer". You have to be cautious as a shared_user. Banning scammers doesn't help, they re-register and now they get to scam again because no one knows who they are.
Outside of turning the classifieds into a pay to use service, not much will be really effective in solving this. we aren't going to do that because it will kill the classifieds. If it was as Kaluwa mentioned above, about money, we'd turn that bitch into a pay to use in a heart beat, tons and tons of stuff gets posted, if we got a cut from each sale, or a small amount per thread, we'd make a stack of cash.
as it is, we like stuff free. Long as the serves are paid for, it;s all good. Part of the downside in getting a forum running really well is needing ever more larger servers to host it. We are good for a while though now i think.

I can see the OP's point, as I have enforced a minimum post count on another site that I administrate. However, I can also see what a nightmare it would be on a site this large. I just hate people signing up just to sell their stuff, then never coming back to the site.

First up, you can't keep thieves and scammers out, and have free classifieds. Anytime you want to sign up for a monthly fee to use the classifieds, or pay everytime you list something, send me a PM.
Secondly, running this stuff aint cheap dude. It takes a beefy server, terrabytes of bandwidth a month and almost as many hours as I put into my day job to keep this site going. You guys have no idea how good you have it, you put up with a few banners (most of which are for non members) and an optional subscription and for that everything is pretty much free.
It's not like people like you give anything remotely resembling appreciation for the site back. Your a leech.

Hey can we please get a minimum post count of like 100 to start a thread in the for sale section? That's how most other forums do it and I'm tired of seeing banned people keep making new names on here and posting stuff for sale when it's probably A) stolen or B) they are gonna scam the buyer

Captcha is possible after our upgrade possibly.
spam in general will be a lot less.
Captcha wont stop scammers though, the only sure way to stop scammers is to either lock the classifieds down to tightly that it's unusable, or to remove it. Classifieds would cease to be used if we made everyone give us their personal info before using it.
