Any specific reason why TR is experiencing a high amount of traffic right now? Just curious.

A lot of the content on TR is index'd in google and sometimes using the google search can find you what you want, it's not always perfect though so for right now, disabling search when things get very loaded is the only option.
i think more people should donate to the site to help with the costs of new hardware. TR has been here for us for a long time and tons of people enjoy it for free, and never donate at all. i've noticed that alot of other sites are now requiring users to pay to use the forsale and wanted forums, but TR has never charged anyone a dime! everyone get off your wallets and DONATE to help out instead of crying about any lil thing that changes in here!
i plan to donate more for sure!
also, maybe we could even have some fund raisers in the near future???

Make a faq section? Instead of searching just look at the Faq spots and if you cant find it post.

Added: Forgot there was already faqs...but the mods that clean up each section should keep them updated when a useful thread pops up and add FAQs in sections that don't already have em. And delete older and closed ones so it'll be easier to browse.

Anyone that pays to use the classifieds section of a forum, is retarded. I see nothing special about donating to TR, I have donated to other forums I frequent. And in return I get a shirt/hat and a sticker, Do we get that here?

You dont pay to post in classified. Only small companies or commercial businesses selling in numbers.

as for what you get in return for donating...thats not my deal o.o

Wouldnt be a bad idea though. Donate a certain amount and get something in return. And possibly have different items pending on the donation bracket your in i guess?

check out orlando forums. you have to pay to use that site now and they're not even half as cool as TR !!!! as for donating, it wouldnt kill anyone to donate a lil bit! and you do get something for it, you get a cool site that run's smooth with all of its features instead of them having to do stuff like disable the search feature. there are several thousand people in here, and if only about 400 of them gave a lil over $12 , they could get better equipment, and solve the problem. 12 or 15 bucks aint nothing!

how much would we actually need to raise to make some sort of up grade?
I wouldn't mind donating if I knew exactly where the money was going. Just throwing it in the pot and hoping something good comes out of it is a turn off for most people.
Maybe a sort of "We need this and that, and it is going to cost this much. When we get this much, we'll do this, then when we get this much, we can do that." then put up something that can monitor where the funds are at. That's why plays put up those little thermometer lookin things. It lets everyone know where the goal is and how far away it is. It actually makes it more tangeable for everyone, not just the people in charge. Then, if you add little goals along the way, that will actually produce some benefit, it will add a little more motivation to get to that goal.

I also like the fundraiser idea... it just takes money to make money...
but, a big TR car show could roll in some profits. Charge a small entry fee for the competing cars. Have some of the different catagories voted on by the people just coming to look, sort of a people's choice type of thing, but have it so that one vote is a one dollar donation. Sell food and drinks and all that jazz, make it a big deal.
I'm sure that between all of the members on here, we could get a lot of stuff donated, maybe even trophies and food and what not. It wouldn't be that hard to find a location either. Talk about it on TR, a few flyers, a few signs and a few radio station shout outs and you'll have a good turn out.
just a thought...

Whatever the hell server runs TR could likely be turned into a bad motherfucker with 500 dollars of cash donations. But it isn't just 'upgrading', its an issue with the software. The software that TR uses has been stretched to and in many cases with this site, WELL BEYOND its designed limits. The answer would be to get better software to run it on...and converting would take forever and a day, and a lot of coding genius. And rather than dealing with the inevitable bugs of new software, I prefer sit back and not have my search button instead.

You know, I would update it more frequently if people actually read them. You know how often in the Audio forum ALONE the mods and I have to delete crap because you guys can't read the rules that ARE CAPITALIZED AND STICKIED AT THE TOP LIKE SO?

Let me know what more stuff you'd like to have added, and I'll add it in there. Feedback is good.

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

The software that TR/TF use has been COMPLETELY custom-redesigned from what they started off with. So much so, that the base program that TampaX has started off from ended up pretty much stealing our ideas and releasing it in future versions of their software.

The admins of this site have done a LOT of work for you guys and have only asked for donations here and there. The site has never tried to be for-profit. It's been here for the users, you guys.

It'd be nice if more of you could donate though; or at the bare minimum not be disruptive.
