Default FMIC grill

I'm just full of questions lately. Anyway, has anyone created their own FMIC grill for a 02-03 WRX? I've been looking around for materials and haven't found a metal mesh I like. Anyone heard of a better solution than buying one of these "universal kits" which is nothing more than a 36"x12" section of metal mesh with a couple of zip ties? Saw 1/4" webbing at Home Depot that seemed interesting if painted black, but would like to know if anyone is running something more pleasing to the eye.

Protection against flying stones and road debris mostly. I also have an idea for a stenciled screen ala the STi fog covers on the car right now.

The only problem i see with that grill craft stuff, is that the black plastic it attaches too gets cut out! same with the prodrive grill..
snaps, looks like ill be in your boat soon Tpa WRX... i wanted to find something like that too... i dont necessarily want to cover it up, but i sure dont want some of those massive bugs and rocks and stuff pelting my car to bang up my new intercoooler....

someone help me too! i dont want this too look budget

I want a grill similar to that found on Skyline GT-Rs. Not too fancy with a black finish. A function over form look. I'm still looking, but so far no dice.

Eric,
At the rate that your going you'd be better off fabricating one yourself, cant be that difficult, just some basic welding. Plus I've got a contact for you if you want to powdercoat it.

You ain't bullshitin' there bro! This has suck!! I've got a plan that probably wouldn't even involve any welding, but I've got to find some decent material to use first!! If anyone spots anything resembling Skyline mesh or even EVO stuff, drop me a PM. Thanks!
