Drivers Beware
In January 2010, I decided to upgrade my turbo to a Dom 3. I looked around for pricing and made a few calls including S&R which has done all my performance work since I purchased my WRX. But do to the economy and trying save a buck, I decided to test the waters (Big Mistake) and call Import Image Racing. Josh recommended that I go to “Full Throttle Motorsport” (what a Nightmare).
They gave me a really great deal on a turbo, and install and we talked about how he can beat S&R pricing, tuning and their service. I will never again go for better pricing when it comes to my car.
Once the car was completed I had an oil leak from the turbo that took two weeks to be fixed, so I had to drive the car with oil leaks.
Secondly, the Dyno ripped my CV Axle Boot, which I had to repair out of pocket.
Well I have gone back to S&R to get a few things fixed and installed a new BOV and had “The Doctor Scott Siegel “fix my tune. Scott did advise that there could be engine damage caused from a bad tune that was performed by Full Throttle.
This shop (Full Throttle) is a fluke, so beware
Long live S&R Performance and all the crew

Why dont you post the maps so we can see the "bad" tune.
I can post the logs if necessary. The Dynamic Advance Multiplier (DAM) was 0.08 and the LTFT at WOT was -12 and the Learned Knock Correction (LKC) was -8. I didn't consider it safe to even try to make a pull with a trim that negative. I reset the ECU and watched the wideband, but even at a nearly safe AFR it pulled timing.
To get the DAM and LKC that low requires a significant amount of knock... In my opinion that car had a tune that could definitely damage the motor. The '07 WRX has different timing control algorithms than the older Subarus.
It appeared the "tuner" might really not have understood what he was doing.

Wow, Thats amazing. Cant win them all I suppose
If you want me to post everything about your car I can.
You brought your car to me because it ran HORRIBLE and had no power after Scott tuned it. The car stalled all the time and studdered. I stuck it on my dyno, and logged. The car knocked and made 260whp with a very choppy powerband with a VF30 at 21 psi!?. You claimed the car made 330whp on S&R dyno...I dont want to get into a tuning battle with you Scott, because I simply dont tune Subaru's myself. All I can say and vouch for is that his car barely broke 260whp. I have stock turbo 2.0l making that.
You then got upset and asked for a complete upgrade which we did for you at a great price. There was a oil leak from a bad oil line, that we also fixed for free. Your car had grounding issues and spark blow out, that once again, we fixed for free. I was 100% honest with you. I told you what was wrong with your car, and gave you advise with what you should do. I told you with the amount of knock it made, there might be a compression issue. I TOLD YOU to go get a compression test before we even did any modification. I said your car might have a bad motor. You did buy it modded with 60k miles....
As far as the tune. I TOLD YOU there was something wrong with the car. I did not tune the car. It was tuned VIA the internet by the owner of Tuning Alliance Mike Kinsman. Mike is the tuner for ESP in Sterling Mass and other numerous shops. I do not tune Subaru's. I fly tuners in, or have them tune VIA internet access thru my connection. I told you that I do not tune Subaru's. I suppose if the map was bad I should take it up with Mike, But I dont want to take a personal blame for the Map. I am going to look for the logs tho, There was NO knock when that car left my shop.
How did my Dyno rip your CV boot? Definately not. Sorry buddy. We fixed it for FREE and you are complaining? You said your car had a shake before it even got to my shop. That was another problem your car had and asked us to take care of. I told you to get new axles. You asked to dyno it anyhow, and the CV boot broke. Come on man.
