I see your list of vehicles includes 07 STi; If you are buying used i would look at 06 and below for the STi, just because the new emission laws caused some ringland and acceleration stumble issues in some 07+ STi's. If you can afford it i would look for inventory 09's since it is the end of the year and i am sure you could get a 09 for sub 33K... or better!f The trans in STi's are one of their strong suits from what i have read.

Negative on the "tranny's in Subaru's suck" comment. I think its safe to say the STI has one of the best tranny's built OEM. Nearly bulletproof.

He probbaly meant 02-03 tranny sucks. You must be ever so gentle with them or they will cost you lots

If you are into mod's or more performance i would buy a used STi. You just get the most for you money and don't have to worry about the stock 5 spd breaking after stage 2 and some hard driving. Another reason to get the STi is your explanation you are new to the 5 spd, i suppose you mean you are going from auto to manual. The STi trans can take more of the abuse you will give it during your manual learning curve

lol the only 5spds i have driven are:

91 Mazda Rx7 GTUs with a stage 4 ACT clutch
02 Lancer OZ Rally

and thats it lol.

question what is the big difference between WRX and STi? As far as I can see the WRX is more rally and the STi is street. Am I hitting the nail on the head?
