Consumed by the Dark Side
Thanks alot! I paid $21k. Its a 2003, Chassis had 34k miles but has fully built block and heads w/ 7k miles on them. Never been to the track. It does have the stock drivetrain but it shifts very well. Stock turbo was on until 2k miles ago. It was garage kept its whole life. It was owned by a 40 year old guy that took extremely good care of the car. AWD Motorsports did almost all the work on the car. Given the condition of the car and the extensive list of mods, I think I got an excellent deal!
Wow, good deal!

im jealous
it pisses me off how easy it is to mod an evo! the car looks amazing... those wheels are probably my favorite part of the car, although it looks like your front wheel to fender clearance needs some help and the back could use some assistance also.
looks like you definitely got what you paid for! CONGRATS!
p.s. i keep hearing everyone talk about the drivetrain and being careful... is the Evo drivetrain weak or what is the deal? you'd think if the evo tranny was kinda like the wrx 5-speed then one good launch or quick shift @ 600+ WHP and bye bye.

And this is #1 reason I sold my STI. I realized no matter how much money I spent on the damn thing, nor would it be worth it, it was not going to give me the power I wanted.
The rims really make the car stand out. I just need to get some spacers for the front because the center cap on the rim will not fit over the hub nut without it, but most people dont even notice.
The suspension will definitely be under the knife within the next month or so. I wont be doing coilovers since I cant really justify the cost for a non-tracked car. I'm just going to throw some swift springs on and call it a day.
When I first started surfing the Evo forums, I was suprised at all the talk about the drivetrain issues. Its just something you dont see a lot of on the STI forums. But at the same time, its freaking dirt cheap for a Sheptran or Buschwacker rebuild. I am a little worried, but from what I read and like concordcobra said, its pretty much all in how you drive and maintain it.

Overlooked your post Ryu. I was originally worried about the spool but after driving with this 37r, the lag is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be and definitely worth the wait by the time the wastegate opens up. The .63 back housing should really make a big difference as well. The motor still makes good power out of boost. I usually take it easy driving around town and between the lights but I like to enjoy what its got at the on ramps and cruising the interstate. Thanks for the luck!
