Default Magical disapering oil and burnt motor

Somehow lost 2 1/2 quarts of oil. Now i have a big clank noise and it turns off by itself. new short block?

might be. theres obviously an internal problem for u to be burning that much oil. i had the same problem a few years ago and ended up with 2 spun bearings. it wasnt a subbie but it started burning oil just like urs.

big clanking= rod bearings?
how resistant is the sti crank?

You need to have the mad scientist pull apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried!

STI cranks are known for 600whp. But not knowing how many miles are on it...

anybody i can take my motor to to get it checked out? 93000 miles. Anybody in the sarasota area that can rebuild my bottom end the right way or should i just save up and buy a pre assembled unit.

yeah get a price on a block. if u hear a hard knocking on the bottom end is a spun bearing. so weather if its a rod or main bearing, ull need that new block either way.

If it spun a bearing then most likely the crank is scarred so byour better off buying a new one. People have made 700 whp+ on the stock crank. It is forged. If your not looking for more then 400 whp then you can just get a new shortblock for about $1700 from various vendors. All depends how far you are trying to go and how deep your pockets are.
