Default Group N Tranny Mount

Just installed this piece. The stock tranny mount is very flimsy and I can move it side to side with my hands. The Group N mount is incredibly stiff. The only trade off is that I can now hear the tranny whine alot more 1st-3rd than I did before, but that just means I need to crank up the radio a little higher.

Next purchase will definately be a Group N engine mount set.

It's worth the $60 or so I paid for it. Once I figured out what tools I needed, it took about 15 mins to get the old one out and another 10 or so to get new one in.

I just took it for a much harder drive, the shifter barely moves around when punching it, the shifting is even more direct in my opinion

Are you running a short shift as well? Any vibration at HWY speeds?

My drivetrain/shifter upgrades include:

Kartboy SS
Kartboy front and rear bushings
Turn in Concepts shifter pivot bushings
Subaru Momo shift knob

With that setup before I never noticed any vibrations/odd noises. The only thing I have noticed by adding the tranny mount is that the gears whine a little more in 1st-3rd.

I probably won't be cruising at highway speeds till tomorrow so I can't tell what it will be doing at 3k rpm in 5th.

Shocker have you noticed any vibrations/metal on metal type noise coming from the bottom of the kartboy SS? I've packed that damn thing full of grease and it's fine for a while, then it starts to make noise at hwy speeds...

back OT, sounds like a great setup, i've been eyeing the engine and trans mounts for a while now, just havent gotten around to doing it.

You know, right now it's too early to tell about the shifter vibration since I've only had it installed for 4 months ~4200 miles. No vibrations yet.

I've run a few different shifter setups in the past 2.5 years. I started off with the KB SS + bushings and I had the vibration you are talking about. I kept using w/e basic grease you could buy at autozone or wherever and the noise would come back. Then I switched to the Cobb SS, had the same issues. Then I went to stock and of course had no vibrations.

I finally got my hands on another KB SS and when I installed it, I actually bought 2 new o-rings from the dealer (they're like a dollar each) for that little plastic cup thing and then filled the area the plastic cup sits in with White Lightning Lithium Grease. Then dropped the shifter in there, put the c-ring clamp back into place and filled the whole thing to the top with the lithium grease. Then installed that rubber cover thing. I haven't had a vibration since.

hmm... I'll have to try that. The last time it started to vibrate like that, I took it all apart and could see where the bottom of the shifter (the part that sits in the little cup) was vibrating against the metal plate directly under the shifter. Anyway, I filled it up with White Lithium grease as well, but now it's back, and I've got a 600+ mile trip back to Tennessee tomorrow. Guess it'll be time to blast the tunes and hope that covers it up.

I had the same problem with my Kartboy SS. Vibration in 5th at HWY speeds was annoying. I went to ACE Hardware and bought several nylon and rubber circular anti rattle thingies. I found that the rubber version fit down perfectly under the cup and no more rattle. I also used marine bearing grease so there would be no friction (no KY jokes please ).
