what engine is this??
I am not familiar with Subaru engines but I was at the scrape yard today and saw a 4 cylinder Subaru engine with the 2 sets of cylinders 180 degrees from each other (like 2 cylinders pointing to the right and the other two pointing to the left) and I could see two intake valve per cylinders. Just say this motor and wanted to know more about it.
thats a normal suby engine theyre horizontal motors
That motor is a horizontally opposed four cylinder. Typically an EJ20 (2.0 liter) or EJ25 (2.5 liter) is what is found in subaru cars. The history behind this engine design dates back to the naka aircraft company that produced planes for Japanese during ww2. Still used in aircraft today, the subaru engine is a great performance motor with extensive durability. Commonly swapped into light aircraft, the ej20 and ej25 are great for power and balance. I get jollies knowing my car has an airplane motor.
The EG and EZ series also had 4 valves.
