advice on if i should upgrade

Default advice on if i should upgrade...going with it..but now need your opinion

Okay so i have an 02 wrx with 115K miles...yeah a lot. well before i moved to Va i had a dealer do a compression test and check all the bells and whistles and everything was good. current mods include tbe/up-downpipe, k&n filter, tune, aftermarket clutch, lighten flywheel, upgraded brakes, rims/tires.

recently i have been tempted with some great prices on vf39s and of course i would go with all supporting mods (injectors, bigger tmic, fuel pump, and new tune) BUT do you think my car is going to handle it okay. I dont drive too hard on a daily bases but i like to have fun hear and there. with 115K miles i am a little concerned.

what do you think? Thanks for any help.

no... but tell where you are finding "great prices on VF39s"

But seriously, from what I've read on Nasioc it seems as though there are many modded high milage WRX's out there that run just fine. Also I dont think VF39 is going to put down huge numbers thats going to kill anything that your current setup wont.

by easy u mean no hard launches or slams between shifting right. I dont do that but i do drive hard when i want to. i would be a little easy with the new power but i would want to feel it once in a while

treat it like glass - tough until it shatters. If you powershift, you're going to break it. If you make too much power and don't drive it REALLY well, you're going to break it.

I'd look into a PPG tranny and start making some real power with it

What do you mean by powershift?? as far as power, ill do a conservative tune and I would say i am good at driving...been with my car for 6 years so i know it pretty well.

from what I understand a powershift is something like: shift gear, push gas heavily or floor it, while letting out of the clutch rather quickly... which shocks the tranny a lot and would usually spin FWD/RWD or in our case break our trannys

But seriously... where are you finding these good deals on VF39s... nasioc?

Basically just don't take your foot off the gas pedal.

I will be selling my vf39 next week.

I powershift my transmission all the time when i'm racing,and it's still holding up,i've got RA gears though .


I'd say go with a vf39(43,etc.) and just do supporting mods untill you have enough cash to build the transmission/6 speed swap it and all that good stuff.
