i dont think ours are, because everyone is always soo worried about getting them 100% sealed after opening them up. if they were vented with our humidity and dew wouldn't they be horrible almost every morning?

well i guess it depends on where/how its vented. i know my last two cars' headlights were vented, never had once problem with condensation getting in.

We cannot replace lights due to condensation under warranty....and it's not a "service writers excuse", it's per Subaru's guidelines:

TSB Link

You can buy a new set if you'd like...but there is no guarantee they won't do the same thing.

My comment was a declarative statement (stupidly I put "??" at the end).

Opie, because the units are sealed from the factory... and they are intended to be sealed 100%... why on earth would Subaru not cover it if their seal failed and condensation built up causing aesthetic damage and marginally dangerous driving conditions (by comparison)?

They are not sealed, they are vented. There are vents on the backside of every lamp.

I can only assume that since they are vented that Subaru knows that condensation will get in at some point so they released this TSB to avoid any confusion on the dealers part.

Where are they vented? I've had these things apart several times and I've not seen any vents... In fact, that would seem silly to me based on the fact that all of the bulbs are sealed, as well as all the other openings that I've seen.

I wonder if a competitive automaker would replace them under warranty?
