The plugs have all been swapped... I'm that's why I'm thinking it's a coil. I don't think it's burnt, but most likely on the way out & not suppling enough voltage to produce a spark in fuel rich environments.

Not necessarily so, Joe -- I had 3 go out on my Audi and 2 of them did this very same thing; only crapped out under high boost

^ you are right, I was confusing myself like a tard. When the coilpack goes bad the car breaks up really bad when under boost or wot.

^^ that sucks. Very unlikely that it's the wiring... more probable that it's the injector; regardless a bitch.

It's a bad injector. I confirmed it tonight at my dad's place after leaving Kyle's. First I sabatoged the car to make sure I had the right cylinder by pulling the wires leading to the coil. It caused the car to stumble in idle, but no change in boost. (It got worse in boost when I tried it on a different cylinder.)

Then we pulled the injector & tried to clean it up with carb cleaner (no change). After that, dad got the idea to swap the front two injectors, and we observed the problem changing sides by pulling the coil leads again.

I just ordered a new injector, so the car should be running hard again as soon as it's shipped.

Thanks to Kyle's help, I saved the money I was about to waste on a new coil. I'm just happy the troubleshooting is over.

Thanks everyone for all of your help! And thanks again, Kyle for going above & beyond.

-Dave
