Default 400whp build.... Need some help

Well Its about that time. I've been waiting patiently and I am finally able to invest in a new setup. I need a few suggestions though. I was following specVmatt's build and I think I am gonna go close to the same route but I need a few questions answered. Here is what I have on my list so far:

UR GT30r Rotated Kit
Perrin Standard FMIC
Deatschworks 850CC injectors
Walbro 255
1 Step Colder Plugs
Forge BPV

Clutch will be shortly after

I'm currently running a Cobb TBE stg II setup. Any further recommendations? Keep in mind, 400whp is my goal. I know what I can do beyond this but I just need enough to make my goal. It will just be a DD, no racing... yet.

hope youre doing tgv deletes

its a 52/min turbo so at 22psi it should make a little over 400whp throw some meth or race gas and you have 450+whp

hope you get a good clutch

The Gimmicks like to suck shut in front of a good sized turbo. A hard pipe would probably be a better route.

I'd also reccommend a good catch tank and hosing.

What are you doing for headers?

oem turbo manifolds are fine unless you plan on going over 500whp but its always a plus having a nice turbo manifold

I've thought about tgv deletes but I dont really know how much hp they would yield or if it was really worth it. I would probably do it myself if it was gonna happen. I see alot of people with 400whp without it though. Thats the only reason I question it.

Im gonna stay away from meth at the moment. It's a possibillity in the future. I dont know much about it and I see it can be deadly as well.

As for a clutch... Im gonna go with an ACT 6 puck. I was hoping the stocker would last a minute though. Im not too hard on it but it does have 57k miles on it.

i'd just like to add that if you've been following specvmatts threads, you should be prepared for some downtime with the car. i hope this isn't your daily driver because you should be prepared for problems. they happen to everyone no matter how hard you plan. so have a spare car, or it may hurt you.

that being said you have a very good layout and seem to have all the bases covered. what are you going to use to tune the car(ie:cobb,enginuity,utec,...) and who is going to tune it? that in my opinion is just as important as the parts.

i wish you the best of luck.

What about the Agency Power Hard Turbo 2.5in inlet? Looks similar to the APS but its 50 bucks cheaper.

What are the benefits of a good catch tank?

Im stay with stock headers. I see alot higher HP builds that do not include it. I would probably just get the Grimmspeed headers w/ crossover.

You might as well take this time to switch over to a rotated mount turbo setup. They are *much* easier to work on and really not that hard to install. With it you can also have a much larger turbo inlet and dont have to worry about it going under the intake manifold.

also would suggest getting deastchwerks injectors. they make 850ccs i believe, and they flow just like stock injectors because they are modified stock injectors. You also don't have to modify the wiring harness like you do with the PEs.

I know member josh06wrx had a dom3 with a soft inlet (I believe it was actually the gimmick). I have a gimmick with no issues at 300whp, but it does collapse with bigger turbos. He also had *many* problems with the dom3. I still think you should go rotated mount.

i think with the tgv's a lot of people feel it is a necessity to do while you in there taking the car apart. you don't necessarily have to but why not get every bit out that you can. worst case you can find a spare set from somone that has done a swap and be prepared.

while i can understand you view on the meth, i think you may be thinking of the wrong meth. the meth blacksti is talking about won't have you on the corner giving handjobs for $15. i believe more in a water/meth injection system, but overall with your goals i think it would be a good decision. meth is addictive though.

if you want a good set of headers I may be willing to sell my gruppe-s headers. I'm not really making enough power where they are making a difference. It's a $575 part new with ceramic coating (which it has) and has also been cryogenically frozen to relax the metal and make it more resistant to heat, as well as it has been heat wrapped with prosport black fibreglass wrap. Let me know if you are interested. Would be worth around $650 new with all of that, I would sell for $450
