I heard about a vacuum hose tee to allow some backpressure to go to atmosphere. I may have this wrong but I was shown it at Rim of the World by a racer and two other guys. I haven't tried it yet myself. Supposidly works as a minimalist mod not to be used with other things. It adds 1.5 bar for $1.70. I also have a Stromung exhaust and a K&N panel filter, thats it.

This is a joke, right??? What in the world are they talking about? add 21 psi??? Are they out of their yokes!!!! With no tune that's a recipe for a blown motor!!!! especially as a "First mod"

 

They are talking about putting a tee in the wastegate vacuum line.. allowing it to bleed pressure, building more boost. It would work however its totally unregulated and could likely continue to boost until the engine blows.

 

lol why would someone actually recommend this as a first mod? with bone stock wrx you'd lean it out and blow the motor, and until then you'd hit fuel cut.. pointless

 

The bigger the hole the more boost it will create,then u gonna start hitting the boost cut off on 4th or 5th.but why will u use this when u have a MBC.U want more boost open that bitch up.

 

I did this in my SRT4...cheapest and best mod. I think it was like $0.39 and boost went from 12 to 16 PSI I believe.

 

depending on the car it can work... like with the srt4, 16lbs of boost is still fine. I'm sure supra owners could do something similar. But like stated above as well, its uncontrollable. You are better off getting a MBC. 1.5bar is something like 22lbs of boost or around there I think? on the td04 you shouldnt be pushing much above 18psi, after that its just blowing hot air.

you could always just melt the line to your AVC-R on your downpipe (just ask FlyStiGuy!!).

man this mod has been around forever. I honestly didn't notice the difference on my 04 wrx back in 04.
