New Look
Thanks I think
I definitely dont think it looks rice, but I appreciate your opinion. It's growin on me. I hated being able to see the intercooler piping, it looked GHEY.
Racer X, thanks for the edits. That's nice work.
Chuck, I waived at ya man, but I obviously you didnt see me.

As Jerremy Clarkson from Top Gear would say:
"You have just given it the aerodynamics of a wall!!!"
I just say looks like a Scion XB bumper now but, whatever floats your boat!

you think that the large "intake" holes were aerodynamically more efficient than the smooth profile he currently has? I'd say it's just the opposite-- plus, you'd be amazed at how aerodynamically efficient a flat face is on a vehicle...
Yes, I see where < would be more efficient than l. Brilliant!!!!
At least the air went in and out, not smacked the front of the car like now. He just did it (covered the holes) because he didn't like what he saw in it and the body shop had to repair their mistake so they coincided in closing them.
To start, that bumper isn't aerodynamic at all. That is what the STi in that model years needed a taller scoop just like the 04-05. When they made a lower, sharper profile in the 06-07 it got away with the shorter scoop like the WRX. Why? Because the nose wasn't as flat directing air ABOVE the car away from the hood scoop (hence taller and towards the front,to grab more from the air stream) as opposed to the newer style. If you noticed in the 04-05, even when in the 2.5i didn't have fogs they had a mesh to have air flow in and out as well as the Fog covers on your car aren't sealed, they have a gap or "intake". Even the 02-03 fog covers didn't seal all the way. I'm pretty sure I could go on and on but I would have to draw you a diagram or something!
I have been with Subaru since 1999 and have gone through 6 different models because each is unique so I think I kinda know my shit.
As I said above, Not my taste but hey, whatever!

whether you've had 6 subarus or just 3 like me....
The pocket in the front of the original bumper trapped the air, it did not vent it.
Now, I am no aerodynamicist, but I think that unless there was some sort of vortex created by the old air dam (which I do not believe to be the basis of your opinion/argument), the air will pass with less abrasion around the new bumper.
