From my opinion, if you want to be a cheap/lowballer, I'll change the timing belt with my trustworthy friend... but if anything breaks or something, don't come on here whining and accusing your friend for breakin it... it was your choice.

-if you have it done by a professional and have extra $$$ laying around, I'll do it at the dealership cause I feel safe/comfortable about it since I don't have to worry about anything..... and if anything breaks, the dealer will fix it at no charge.

10 minutes? I'll spot you 20 more minutes.

I'll give $100 cash to anyone (that's 1 person) who can change their EJ20 or EJ255 or EJ257 timing belt in under 30 minutes in front of me.

Rules:

* No removing or loosening anything ahead of time. Engine bay should have pulley cover, timing belt covers (LHS and RHS), all accessories with their belts intact, ETC.

* All removed pieces must be reinstalled completely, including clips

* There can be no more than 5 ounces of liquid mess on the ground once you're done.

* Timing belt must be fully removed before replacing it (or reinstalling it)

* One designated person is allowed to touch the car and nobody else (not even for helping hands to hold something)

* OEM timing belt guides must be checked and adjusted to within spec after install (I'll be watching)

* 29 minutes and 59 seconds is how long you have.

* Belt must be installed properly (marks matching where they need to be)
Come get some easy cash

Well I can say I got all the answers I needed, and then some. I'm going to do it myself over the winter break and that way I can do the water pump and maybe idler pulley at the same time. I'm hesitant to ask this, but are there any special tools I'm going to need other than normal hand tools?

I just pulled heads of a 2000 Chevy Venture van in less than 2 hours beat that! Seriously thats impressive, go look at one under the hood.

I still dont see you doing this in anything less than an hour and a half. Theres a lot of shit to line up EJs. It would take me an hour and a half to do the belts on my truck and I have a shit ton more room to work with and half the pulleys and gears.
