Will my car throw a code if it's running lean? People that have followed me said that there is a small puff of black smoke when I get on the gas and it smells really rich when I'm at idle. Is it more of a part throttle lean situation?

If you've not tuned for the TBE yet (I understand your post to mean you have never had the car tuned), you'll benefit from a tune for that.

If you don't have a catless up-pipe yet, do that before you bother with a tune.

As for the CAI itself, unless the piping where the MAF sensor sits is different than 65mm (OEM size) or unless the bends in the Process West CAI are very different than the stock setup, you really have incredibly little to gain from a tune just for its sake. If the piping diameter IS different, you will want to get a tune and have the OEM ECU MAF scaling map tuned for the new slightly offset placement of the MAF sensor.

Do the up-pipe then get tuned.

I ran with the proccess west for a while without a problem. A tune will definitely help though, especially with the turboback. The 3" is overkill for the power you are making though, honestly

The intake is 65mm and it a pretty good match-up for the stock piping. I really need a tune top wake the car up but I've got a few bills to take care of before that. It makes me feel a lot better knowing that other people have run it w/o a tune and not had problems. Thanks guys!

Have you ever had your car tuned before?

No I haven't, unless the previous owner did anything to it (the TBE was already on it). Is there any way I can check? Also, my friend bought an 02' WRX w/ a VF-30 and supporting mods and it's tuned via ECUTEK. Can I hook his laptop up to my car just to datalog it?
