Carmax question?
Well ive been trying to sell the suby for about 2 weeks now with no bites. And i've been seeing adds for carmax about them buying cars and such.Has anyone ever sold a car to them?Mainly a subaru?I searched on Nasioc and most people said they base the pricing on they're inventory and i looked on carmax.com and they have no 03 wrx's nationwide.I'm just wondering what they would give me for it.The cars going to my mechanic tomorrow to get the stock d/p put back on and fix an axle boot so that it would be ready for sale.
Rep will be given to all that help. And i am now sporting 360k rep points so help away!

Yeah hmmm check prices on Auto trader Yahoo, Cars Etc. But I would think you'd be better off selling on Autotrader. I have a friend whos dad is the GM at carmax i'll find out and see for you. But I think you might get less then what you want. Also check Kellybluebook.com You can go through a series of checklists and the give u a ball park for what u can get for anycar

You won't get what you want for it. My Mom's friend took their 2005 Mustang convertible with pretty low mileage and no accidents to Carmax and they only wanted to give them 5k....

try auto trader and the local paper....wrx's are hard to come by so when someone really wants to buy it...they will. Good luck with the sale.....and how the hell did you get 360k rep points..that's insane!!

That also has a lot to do with how many mustangs there are and their inventory. A Subie should net about KBB. When I went to entertain trading in my SUbie at Carmax, they offered me KBB price.

Yeah thats exactly what i was reading on Nasioc.Everyone said the pricing was based on there inventory and i looked it up and they have no wrx's in tampa. And no 03 in the nation. They have an 02 with 71k miles and theyre selling it for 15k.Mines an 03 with 46k so i figure i could get around 13-14k.I've heard they give you between excellent trade in and good private value.
Excellent trade in is: $12,950
Good private party is: $14,610
I'd be happy with 14k haha.
But im most likely going tomorrow.I doubt they have anyone that knows subys at all so im just going to leave my catless downpipe on.

I used at work for carmax in tampa and they usually appraised cars at a good price, usually the price is right around what kelly blue book says. But remember if you have any aftermarket mods its going to hurt the value. Sometimes the price is reduced because if they end up selling it retail and have to pay whatever it costs to repair or make it stock and if the modifications are too much they put it in wholesale and auction it so they can make a profit on it.
