does tampa need a subaru tech?
well, like the title says, I was curious if you this area needs a subaru tech? I've been talking with a local shop about coming down to do in house engineering and to be their subaru tech. I'm really doing this as I'm curious if the move is worth the gamble.
Please be honest and let me know your thoughts.
Thanks,
Micah

I know one of the main hangups if I were to ever do a serious build on my car would be the lack of local support. Any shop that Id trust to do a motor or tranny build is out of the state. So aside from the added shipping costs, Id be up the creek without a paddle if something were to go wrong. And our only local tuner does it on his free time, and thus can't be expected to solve problems immediately (though I know he does his best).
But if a local shop that already has a good reputation put a knowledgeable Subaru guy under their roof....maybe someone who could build and tune engines, and *crosses fingers* rebuild transmissions, Id be much more apt to throw serious money at my car.
May I ask what services you would be offering if this were to happen?

tampa really does need a experienced suby mechanic. there are alot of subys in tampa now and i know 75% are looking to mod their car. they wouldnt have bought it if they wanted it to stay stock

yes this area does need a subie mech. I agree, if I needed any engine work done I would go out of state to have it done. Would be nice to have somone here that is knowledgeable and professional.

I don't know if it is known, but there is Mike Ranlet at XAT that does really great work and knows his stuff when it comes to subarus. But I agree that there are very few known Subaru mechaincs around here. Just putting in my .02 if it matters.
