F'd up stuff happened yesterday.....
So yesterday I woke up in the morning to go and rinse the bird shit off my car, so I drove my car to the do it yourself pressure washer in my condo complex. I hit the car with the soap first, then rinse it off, and then start to dry it a little bit. Then when I start to wipe down my wheels I notice that something happened with the wash that caused the clear coat on my wheels to just wither away in about 5 or 6 spots on each wheel. As the wheels dry more I start to see even more damage. I thought there where water spots on the wheels, but again more paint damage. I had no clue how that could have happened because my wheels were fine before I washed the car.
So a maintenance guy drives by and I stop him to take a look....and he agrees that something did happen, but said to call the managment off. So I called the office and they send the maintenace supervisor to come and look at it. He gets there and I tell him I think the machine/soap/something messed up the paint on my wheels. He said basically I am crazy and that it could never happen. He said maybe I held the gun too close and the pressure chipped off the paint......I said that would make sense except certain spots on my wheels looks like liquid acid ran down the spoke, which a pressure gun could never cause. So I had him make a copy of his hand written report and now have to take this up with the property manager on monday.
Has anyone ever had/heard of this happening before? Is it possible my wheels are defective? Should the condo or chemical company be held responsible if they have signs up saying how safe the wash is on your car? I am so pissed and don't know what to do so any help here is appreciated.

it would be the responcibility of the management office to reimburse you for any losses, and then the management office can go after the chemical company, but it sounds like somebody F*ed up in the chemical ratios (stupid mantainance people)
maybe the pressure washer lines still had residue from whatever they used to clean a clog out with, that stuff would destroy your paint job in a hurry. damn, sorry that happened to your car, i had to completely repaint my wheels last year because basically the same thing happened except it was my fault, ALWAYS read the directions on wheel cleaner (hot wheels, left on for 20 minutes too long....yeah....)

From what I have researched online...several sites say that if the soap has too harsh of an acid cleaner/solvent or whatever, that it will be fine on the car, but destroy the finish of the wheels. I have a feeling this will be quite a chore, but I will not let it end till they take care of the damages.

its not the soap. wheel paint is usually pretty damn good and i think we all can agree that Subaru paint sucks balls. If it didnt damage your cars paint then theres something wrong with your wheels. Its hard to tell entirely without pics Josh but thats what im betting on.
