Engine Status...
Alright, this thread is only meant as an update to my current engine build i.e: WRX/STI hybrid.
So far engine has been pulled and new JE Crawford Forged Pistons are going into the new 2.5L Block. The heads off the old one should be coming off and going to the machine shop tomorrow. Still no news on what caused this engine to blow up. should know in the next day or so. I have heard the Stock WRX turbo might be TOAST! Martin at XAT took it out but haven't heard to what extent it was damaged.
Good thing I'm replacing it with a MHI TD05H 16G, small but potent little upgrade.
I will be getting back all the stock parts and will take photos to show any really impressive damage.
At this point I just can't wait to get it back, break it in, and have some fun!
I will keep you guys posted as to the progress.
** Major props to Mike Ranlet and Martin over at XAT Racing who are doing the whole build. Mike , especially has been really cool sharing his knowledge with me on this and keeping me posted every step of the way.
I highly recommend them to anyone....if only they had an AWD Dyno! Dammit man!
to be continued........

Oh hey....before I forget,
Thanks to also to many of you here who have given me consistent advise and feedback with helping me decide my build. I couldn't of done it without your help.
Thanks again!

Ok I got some news on the engine today... Mike over at XAT got the heads off and it turns out that the #1 Piston spun a Rod Bearing..or at least there was one at one time.
Looks like this was on account of the engine running lean and caused detonation in the number 1 cylinder.
Possibly due to the fact the car was stock and having excessive load put on it by a dyno run is what caused this. Factors such as Tuning, or lack there of, timing and fuel pressure all contributed to this.
The Crank does turn over and move freely once the #1 piston was removed, so it looks like the main bearings were not affected. The block will still have to be opened up, but does look buildable , so it will be salvagable for someone.
I hear WRX motors tend to run lean on cylinder #1 so that's probably an issue others may have encountered.
Heads were slightly warped, had them resurfaced and machined so should fit nice and snug!
No debris in the heads so it looks like the damage was limited to the block.
Car should be ready by Saturday. And hope fully Sunday.....a Snowman TUNE!!
p.s. its Jeff's (Snowman) 8th anniversary this weekend so give him a shoutout!

Yes but since I'm running a hybrid and larger injectors and fuel pump, this 1st tune will be only a base map tune to get the car running smoothly.
Once the motor is broken in 800-1,000 miles or so then we will tune it for boost and performance.
With out the base tune I can't drive this thing properly. Otherwise it will be dumping fuel or not enough fuel.

I'm changing the 2.0 for a 2.5 and I'm using the Stock STI pistons and not the JE Crawford one's. I bought thinking it would be better to go that route, but it really won't make a much difference.
Little did I know that it was a special order item and Mastro won't let me return them now, so I'm stuck with them. Trying to sell or trade for something of like value that I don't have and would make more power, like Cam's or something.
