Unfortunately I havent got the tranny or motor in the car yet cuz I'm waiting on some parts so I can do everything the way I want it the first time. I was told by IA Performance, which is who I bought everything from, that the 5mt fork will work. I hope it does or else I'll be buying one of those too.

for those concerned about the clutch fork please read post #3.
if you go to nasioc just look for a vendor named jdmspec4u. it's 3500 for everything minus the rear brembos or everything and a r160 w/3.9 r+p. add the 500 for shipping and you have 4000.
there are also private sales for the whole setup if you look around for the same and most times less.

Like I said, it seems theres two conflicting answers here. A few threads Ive read on peoples swaps have said they need the fork from the 6speed. Namely, this one:Swapping in a USDM STi 6-speed for under $3000 (my story – long) - Transmission (AT/MT) & Driveline - NASIOC.

if you use the 5 speed clutch and flywheel you need the 5 speed fork. if you use the 6 speed clutch and flywheel you need the 6 speed fork. i've seen it done and tested. i've also searched many on the subject. the only difference is you can not take a 6 speed clutch and flywheel and put it in a 5speed.

No, that is false information!
The clutch and flywheel from a 2.0L WRX motor, that was originally equipped with a 5 speed, will work work beautifully with a 6 speed tranmission.
There have been a few people who have sucessfully installed an STi clutch and flywheel in a 5 speed transmission, but I believe they had to machine down a few small areas inside the bellhousing to fit the thicker flywheel. I dunno, I've never seen this first hand.
Regardless, the 2.0L / 5 speed clutch and flywheel work PERFECTLY with the 6 speed transmission

ya, what he said. i'm currently running an exedy stg 1 organic clutch and an act lightweight flywheel for '03 wrx with my 6MT. a wrx clutch and flywheel will fit, but if you beat on it ya can expect premature wear.
The diamter of the WRX clutch is 230mm and the one from the STI clutch is 240mm.
So you can´t fit a STI clutch into a WRX gearbox, because there is not enough place!
But you can use the WRX clutch in an STI geabox.
I wouldn´t do this if I had the choice, as the bigger the better in this case, so the whole power can be transformed well over to the wheels!

i'm pretty sure that covers it but yes if you use the 5 speed clutch and flywheel you need the 5 speed fork. if you use the 6 speed clutch and flywheel you need the 6 speed fork.
