Lots of people running around the area using opensource software. Like BoostJunkie said, Enginuity to tune...EcuFlash to read/write to from the ECU.

I used enginuity and ecuflash along with ecuexplorer. Wrote a background article on it for people to get started here

open ECU is a good cheap souce to tune your car but personally I would leave it up to a professionalism who has insurance

Thats funny.

Do you think any of the other software solutions offer a warranty/protection?

Heres a quote from Cobb:
"There is no guarantee expressed or implied by COBB Tuning or any of its affiliates for the use of the AccessPORT. The user accepts all risks and responsibilities when using the AccessPORT."

affiliates = ProTuners
