Default The New Guy

So.....
I just sold my built 240sx (ka24det) and I am going to buy a STI....

sold her to pay for my honeymoon......some people work a whole year on an engine/car to go very fast, others do it to pay for their honeymoon

Question:
Is it worth spending the extra money on a 06? I have only found a small amount of information about the differences...
04 STI ~25k
06 STI ~34K
Opinions? (besides crawford performance rocks)

goals? eventual 400-500awhp (240 had ~400whp)
realistically, get used to awd for a while and then start looking into mods...

Thanks
Brandon

It really depends on if it's worth it to you or not. They don't depreciate much as you can see with the price the 04' is still holding, so either way is good. The 06' has a better Driver Contol system with steering angle sensors for the AWD and also has projector headlights which are sweet. I would do the 06' myself, it depends on what you can afford.

The differences are less aesthetic and more performance oriented...
I know the weight dist is different in the 06,.... 41, 59 IIRC
Plus the center diff is different on the 06 isn't it?
Also, the 4,5,6 synchros are carbon fiber, or carbon plated....IIRC

41/59 is the torque split not the weight distribution. Thats also whats different about the center diff. In the 04/05 model it could go as far as 35/65.

If you are considering the '04, you might as well go '05. The '05 has a much nicer dash area (HVAC, steering wheel, radio), half inch wider wheels (with a better bolt pattern), rear fender flares, and some other things I'm probably forgetting. Having said that, if you are going '05, you might as well go '06. I don't think you'll be dissappointed with any of them.

The 05 got some suspension upgrades over the 04. I'd recommend going with an 05 if you can't afford the 06. The better center diff in the 06 is worth the money though, as its mechanical instead of all electronic. Faster reaction.

06 if money is not an issue

05 if it is

No matter what, it's still a win-win situation
