I've seen them for $4k+hardware to install. You have to look around and do some digging, but they are out there. That said, the price is still ridiculous, considering how relatively weak even the STi trannies really are. I'm dreading what will happen when I take the next step in power, because the tranny options for Subarus absolutely blow. It's tempting to go automatic, but I want to stick with a MT as long as I can.

Just a note, I think it's been a solid year or more since I've posted in this forum. I must really be bored.

check on gruppe-s.com they have syncros and gears. If you are going to get them call them first and some times they will change the price for you. They did when I got my clutch from them.

I am still fighting with subaru i emailed them and I am going to call on tue that when they open up and then I am going to find out what to do next.

tampawrx where did you find the tranny for 4k??

Salvage trannies from wrecked cars were going for around $4k+conversions costs a year or so ago. You can get them out of destroyed JDM and USDM cars for around that money, I would think. The suck part of it all is, you can shred up a STi 6-speed with 400+whp. For a 2.5L with the right upgrades and forged pistons, that's really no big deal to achieve. With the setup I want to put in the car next year, that's really just the beginning. Now if someone would come out with hardened 6-speed gears and customizable ratios, I'd be in Heaven!
