define "work"
the more 'like' parts assembled will yield the higher likelihood of success and tuneability....
(keeping it simple, IOW)

I have a EJ22T block for sale, is closed deck and has the piston squirters. You could get stock sized forged pistons and con rods and a 2.2L crank (which I have) and have a 2.2L monstor or you could get a Phase I 2.5L RS crank and have a 2.35L stroker.
There are alot of options.

I saw a guy that had 150K miles on his stock 2.2L and he was running around 30psi on a rotated mount turbo, I'm not sure what size it was. It finally spun a rod bearing at around 170K.
I would get a used block and crank and then get CP pistons and Pauter or Carrillo rods. Just remember, ALL EJ 4 cylinders use the same length rod so even if no one makes rods for the 2.2 you can use 2.0 or 2.5 rods.
YOU WILL NEVAR BE FASTAR THAN ME

Yeah I am going to stay in DSP and that means running a N/A Motor so i will spend this year being competitive and go up to Nationals in Kansas. I will be building a n/a motor to DSP rules. So I need to sell the other project and start a new one.
