Default Clutch Suggestions

It is about time for me to change my clutch. I now have 109k+ miles on my stock clutch and will be getting my 20g set-up tuned this week. Anyone have suggestions? I was thinking the ACT Street Disc Clutch Kit with their Prolite Flywheel. Gruppe-s has them for $699 shipped. I am looking for stock feel, but a lot better grab.

Thanks.

Bryan

If you plan on launching the car ever again, don't get a lighter flywheel.

Sorry, WRX. How does the flywheel effect the launch? Should you just do a resurface? Also, if you can't do a lighter flywheel, can you do a lighter driveshaft?

I did read this on nasioc:

"Are there any downsides to a lightweight flywheel? While the performance characteristics of a lightweight flywheel seem to be the perfect solution, there are compromises:
a. Low end performance is affected. This usually means that higher revs are necessary for smooth starts due to the reduced rotational mass. For drag racers, this can be a BIG issue.
b. Missfire check engine lights on the WRX.

Who is a good or a bad candidate for a lightweight flywheel? Arguably, the users whose driving technique is most highlighted by the benefits of a lightweight flywheel are people who autocross frequently. Many people are also genuinely happy with the performance increase in their daily driven vehicles as well. The only group that is generally dissatisfied are people who competitively drag race as the reduced rotational mass does not lend itself to their severe launch techniques."

What the hell. I getting tired of all the bad things about the WRX versus Sti. I don't really drag race. Just a few stop light races from time to time. Mostly highway altercations!

it all depends on how light the flywheel is. The ACT is extremely light, something like 6-9 pounds. Thats way too light for an AWD car. On the other hand i have driven wrxs with the exedy fly wheel which is 14 pounds and the car drove fine. Light weight is good but therer is such a thing as too light. as far as the drive shaft goes the only people i know who make a lighter driveshaft is the Drive Shaft Shop. I dont know if its STI or WRX specific but check it out.
