Default Scared of Power?

Has anyone else noticed Suby owners are scared to make big numbers??? I look around on NASIOC and I see guys talking about 400whp like a Supra guy talks about 1300whp. I just had a guy tell me that a 2.0 Suby cant make 600-700hp!!! DSM's can and they are running on technology from the 80's This has been really bugging me for a while so I decided to see what you guys think.

I don't think it's people are scared of putting down power, it's that they didn't buy their Subaru for that reason. Also that and we didn't have stout Subaru engines readily available here in the states until the introduction of the WRX (in my opinion, anyway).

I convinced my father to buy himself a WRX not because it can make big power, but because it's AWD, it's turbo, drives like a car from a higher class, it's reliable, looks good, and offers superb crash test ratings.

I prefer moderate numbers while being a daily driver.

I'd say for the majority that these guys aren't looking to make these numbers. That's one thing, but when you start saying that these motors cant make that power is another thing. They're perfectly capable with the right turbo setup and some good tuning some race gas/high boost wouldn't hurt either, you guys know the role. I agree with Frankie, for the guys that want to make the big power should definately go for it because they can take it if you really want to put the money/time in to the project. Big emphasis on the money part, because after looking at some of the parts for the subarus, i think it's safe to say that the shit isn't cheap. and That's my .02

The strongest motor Subaru ever built was in the 91-94 Leagcy Turbo, EJ22. Its a closed deck block, the only closed deck Subaru made. I saw a guy that pushed 30+psi on stock internals.
