I know this shits expensive but so are parts for Supras. I just thought it was stupid for that guy to say a 2.0 Subaru CANT make 600hp. From what I can tell there hasnt been anyone that has tried to make that kind of power on a 2.0. He says the top 2.0 has stock internals, that sure doesnt seem like he is trying too hard, the next on the list is making 490whp.

You're not sprayng are you? Another asshat just said you would need 300 degree cams, a GT40 @40psi, and rev to 11K to make 600-700hp

The shortblock is the easy part. The heads is where you need to spend the money. 300 duration cams, Adjustable cam wheels, Porting, double springs and TI retainers. GT40R(in custom trim) and 40 psi of boost around 11,000 rpm redline and you can do it. Figure $20K budget on engine and turbo system.

Big hp numbers on a 2.0 or 2.5? Sorry, I like my power before 4500 rpm.

I'm more of a rally guy (those that know me and my car will agree). I like torque, pulling myself out of a corner. Rally cars are limited to 300hp because of the turbo inlet restrictor, but they make upwards of 600lb-ft of torque. On a 2.0L motor.

i just havent seen big numbers on these cars...ever. I also think another reason u never see big numbers is because when you try to do somethin with that kinda power on these cars your goin to run into a shit load of problems. You can put a butt ton of money into these things and run a what...12? Or you could spend 1/5th of the money in parts and run a 12 in a cobra/ws6/ss. Realizing all of this had led me into gettin rid of the scooby

I dunno....altough it's not impossible to make big HP numbers with an STI or WRX, it's more along the lines of improbable. If one takes their subaru street car and wants tons of top end HP and a 9k RPM redline not only do they have to sacrifice some bottom end torque, but they have to also look at all the parts affected by power increase. This was said earlier a couple of times, no need to reiterate.

*NOTE* I'm NOT talking about a race engine--

Subaru engines were designed with bottom end acceleration in mind. (Large Bore x Short Stroke). Increase the redline to 10k, put 800 hp @ 8500 rpms and yea, it'll be fast, but the bottom end will be lost, and cars with 50 - 100 hp less would be able to pull away at higher speeds. If more focus is put at placing max WHP to the lower-middle of the RPM range then it would be possible to take that Supra or whatever until a relatively high speed to fly by you. Rather than holding them neck and neck and then watching them walk away from you still.

Make sense?

How's 719whp? Althought it is a moified 2.5 STI:

I think that is good for a street 4 banger.

So let's see here....

The car is about what $30,000 to $35,000.
Plus an additional $30,000 in modifications for 719whp.

What other options do you have for $60,000 to $65,000 and 719whp?

that car has a 125 shot, iirc. I would just like to see someone make 600whp on a 2L Subaru. We all know it can be done. If a Honda can do it, we can do it
