Default Trans Question

Sense I got my 2003 WRX its alway been hard to get it into a gear does not mater what one even when moving or stop. It will go into gear with out grinding. Other problem when first start the car I can not put it into reverse. When it does that I have to put it into first then move forward then put it into reverse.

I am asking is there a problem???

Or is there a way that I can fix it that it will go in easy. I drove alot of other cars and don't have a problem like this even performance cars.

Thanks For your help

The reverse thing is normal. My car hates that gear. I have got into the habit of rolling it forward in 1st without even trying reverse cause its no use.

As far as the other gears, Im not sure. First is the only one I have trouble going into and that goes away if I double clutch.

The syncro's in the earlier Wrx tranny's are nortorious for failing. Could be covered under warranty since all are a problem. They usually call it abuse tho and deny warranty. It's worth a try tho.

On NASIOC there's a "cocktail" of tranny fluids that are said to get great results. I wrote it down last night for when I get my 30k service done, I'll post it up when I get home (still at work right now).

EDIT: OK finally home. Here's the formula, along with places the poster of the formula bought them in his most recent batch. Keep in mind the fluid fill amount for the 5-speed is approx 4qt.

Pennzoil synchromesh 1qt: Autozone
2 Qts Castrol HypoidC 80w90: Pepboys
1qt Redline Lightweight Shockproof: Local Speed shoppe
