Question What should I do??

My clutch is shot and my tranny has a 4th gear grind. Should I get the STi 6spd and wait to get my setup done or should I get a RA gear set and finish my setup? The only problem I'm goin to have is my setup is good for 400 whp and the RA gear set is rated at 350ish whp Idk what to do cuz I know I'll probably end up blowng the RA setup

Thanks, Frankie

I would follow your own advice, I recall you telling me at the track on saturday "im not going to go cheap on anything" I personally would definately wait and get the STi 6 spd, in the long run I think that you will be MUCH happier...

There are other alternatives to the SIT 6 speed. THe swap for that is so damn expensive you should look at other gear sets. APS makes a full synchro set for about $4300 and there are some others. Check out vividracing or i-club. you should be able to find something there

The deal I'm getting for the 6spd is gonna be right around $4800 for the tranny, shift linkage, aftermarket clutch, flywheel, prop shaft, and ring and pinion. If I got the APS gear set that would be $4300 + install of the gears + bearings and other misc parts. Not to mention its only rated at 325 ft/lbs, the RA set is rated at 350 ft/lbs. So the 6 spd is really the only way for me to go

I believe you answered your own question when you said that your setup will be making 400 to the ground and most gearsets are not rated that high. I've heard you can do the whole setup for under 5k like you had mentioned, so why not do it right the first time and get it over with. The 6mt is rated to like 550 ft/lbs I've also heard that one of the biggest causes for problems with the 5mt is case flex, which will never be accounted for simply by changing out the gearset. Best of luck with your decision, and when its all said and done, let us know how the install goes, how much $$$, and who you purchesed from

It's my opinion........6spd tranny>RA gears (I don't like runing out of 4th gear at 98mph or so)
