Post Up-pipe for dummies

I have quite a few questions about up-pipes. First of all, without being tuned for it, what kind of gains can i expect to see by doing this mod? i was hoping i will see about the same amount of power i got from my downpipe. Next i was wondering if the flex section in some up pipes is necessary for proper fitment. Does doing this make my exhaust any more loud than it already is? And finally what will i expect to pay for a quality pipe and installation (by mastro)?

Forgive me if this has already been discussed.

I am not sure how much h.p you should gain but according to the dyno in the new Import Tuner the wrx gained like 27h.p. I am pretty sure you don't have to be tuned for one either. The uppipe is defintely one of the best mods on a Wrx. They take a long time to install one about 4 hours or more.

Gains of about 5-10whp and about 500-800rpm quicker spool up. A quality pipe can run anywhere from $150.00 (hks) to about $350 (aps,Txs...etc) install is like $150.00. Also, No your exhaust wont get any louder but your turbo will be a little loader.
