UTEC and Ecutek?
haha. he may say he wants simply a turboback and some bolt-ons, but we've heard that story...even from ourselves! That's the life/money pit of the car enthusiast. You say what will make you happy, you save up and buy that shit, and your pysched for like a year and then your drawing plans for more. haha.
An ecutek reflash doesn't cost a fortune, so you aren't taking too much of a hit when you DO decide you want more shit, but if you are aware that this cycle is most likely gonna happen to you, i'd say get something with some tunability in the first place.

Once you have paid the initial $995 all you have to pay is labor time thereafter for tuning.
UTEC is nice if you know what your doing. That said alot of people dont seem to know what they are doing.
And lets not forget UTEC is a piggyback. Get a bad tank of gas on your UTEC and you dont retard timing right away, goodbye engine.
Ecutek uses the stock computers ability to automatically retard timing should you get some bad gas.
Being a Subaru dealership we tend to go with products that are the most reliable with the fewest risks.

I'm sure the cobb tune isn't risky, it just probably leaves alot of power on the table that a custom tune might put to use. maybe if you buy all cobb parts its pretty close to a custom tune...

Even with all the same parts and the exact same setup as the original car that the map was based off of...every car is different and I'd feel better knowing that was taken into account when my car is tuned.
Cobb has more than 20 different maps you can use. Its not just stage 1 , stage 2, etc. They do tune conservally so no problems can happen. Ask anyone on nasioc.com who has accesport and they have had no problems with it. I am not saying it's better just a little easier. I agree a custom tune is always the best, but I got accesport for free so I can't complain.

thats great.. but its like on my mustang when i went with the mail order tune.. it was fine.. nice and safe.. supposedly it was for the same car with the same mods.. when i changed to a diff chip and got it tuned locally the car ran much much much much better and made abot double the pwoer (from the chip)
EcuTek all the way for me.. i love the fact that its basically facory looking/feel and its not piggy back.. for me .. its either full ECU replacement.. or Ecutek..

ecutek is a mastro monopoly in which ull get anally raped everytime u need to tune bc its a ROM tune not a true standalone
UTEC is a standalone, ure not going to blow up your motor bc u have UTEC and a bad tank of gas, that would be like saying every standalone will blow up ure motor.
UTEC and a AEM wideband and u dont have to pay any one to do shit. UTEC plugs right into a laptop and can fully tune and datalog on the fly, unlike Ecutek
if you want help tuning the VEs, let me know.
