You have to avoid the burnout box...
Rev to 5500 or so and back down...You want to get into at least 60% of the throttle and back off and do it over and over again till its time to move...
You don't want to raise the RPM and hold it steady like you do with a honda...You want the exhaustl to sound like vroom vroom vroom...Not Vrooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmm...
The key is to slip the clutch and then rock that shifter while fully disengaging and engaging the clutch through your run...
You'll get used to it...The engine needs to be under load to make boost and thats the key to a good launch...You will bog if you launch with no boost...THats why you dip hard into the throttle at the line and time it so that you will be heavy on the pedal as you slip the clutch...
You may smell burnt clutch if you are slipping it too slowly...But its better to smell that than have your shifter locked in gear due to a stripped gear...

no... just pat the gas and make it sound like youre using a stutter box/2 step... then slip the clutch out, semi-briskly... NEVER EVER drop it... Ever... or else youll get a visit from the trunk monkey.
pat the gas, but not lightly, i mean, punch it and let off before you get too close to the redline... this will spool your turbo even while youre sitting still. when you get it going good enough, you will hear the BPV fully release each time you let off the gas, itll sound just like shifting after boosting.
and whats his face is right; the launch will make or break the car... with out it, you dont have much.
btw, what are the new STi's weighing in at? 3600ish?

if you look around at the bigger subaru forums, the only ppl to break in to the 12's with bone stock sti's have redlined the car at the line then side step the clutch you will spin for a brief moment and go directly to 2nd. i never tried this im a chicken shit

I want to see it too.
