Last night i was sitting in front of my friends place idling and when i looked down at the engine temp on the oem gauge cluster, it was rising towards the red. I shut her down and waited alittle bit, turned her back on and put the heat on full blast. When she came back on the dial was reading in the middle, but then still continued to climb. I started to drive, and it continued to rise, then i stopped and it started to dip. I then started to drive again, and the dial went back to the norm (just below center). Just curious if this has ever happened to any of you. I haven't done anything to my car recently and this is def. the first time this has happened. I drove the car again today and everything was fine, i let her sit in front of my house at idle again and i checked to see if the fan was turning on and it was. Everything's normal so it seems. WTF happened? Any ideas?

NOTE - when i removed my up-pipe like 10k ago, i'm sure i lost alittle bit of coolant (partially removing the turbo), but that was 10k ago and it wasn't alot, and this is the first time this has happened.

That happened to me not to long ago. I thought the temp. gauge was loosing it's mind with all the fluctuation, but I just added coolant and the problem went away.
