Just driving...Highway driving too, not like stop and go traffic....
147k should be nothing for any car now a days...I'm not sure why so many people are surprised when cars roll 100k and still run.. Maybe it's just the Subaru people? My buddies 89 Escort GT is about to 200k miles right now and has had less engine repair then my car....yes Escort GT....

I'm still in shock that I paid to fix it, too...As you can imagine I'll never buy another Subaru.....Which is saying a lot considering I buy a new car every 2-3 years and was considering an STi as my next purchase...

Never said I was surprised my Subaru's are doing so well with the high mileage as that's what I expect from them, 100k is just barely broken in IMHO. I'm more surprised that you had a failure so early.

Don't mean to sound like an ass...but at 3,000 miles after your warranty expired...why wouldn't you have expected to pay for it?

Previous experience with other car makers I guess...I've had like 9 cars in 16 years, all high miles....2 or 3 with major mechanical problems, out of warranty, and it was never even brought up that I would have to pay to fix them...With all of Subaru's "community support" etc etc...I figured the same...

Jeff, I have a long, long list of cars I have been looking at and considering...It all depends on when I decide to buy and how much income I have at that time...Although, I can't wait to get rid of this car, I'm so upside down with Subaru's losing value so fast and the cost of fixing it, I'm damn near 10k upside down...My tastes change daily but the last couple days, I've been thinking of buyign American and getting a 2005 Mustang GT...
