Default Cat or no Cat

I just saw that cobb is taking preorders on their equal length header system for the ej25. They have it in a few different setups(coated/non coated and race pipe/cat). I was looking at uncoated(and heat wrap it) with a race pipe. In FL, I know there are tons of people running around here with no cats(imports and domestics). I was wondering if it would be smart to pay the extra 100 bux to get the headers with the high flow cat or just go race pipe. I honestly don't see a risk in it considering my friend's dsm has been pulled over numerous times and he hasn't been cited for it. People keep saying its like a $15k fine or something. I just need a little clarification and advice on this.

YMMV but you will most likey fail inspection w/ a aftermarket cat. I don't see them bringing inspections back anytime soon anyways.

15k fine if your a shop playing around with peoples cats... No way they could go around handing 15k fines to people on the road, if they did though I know they would make a grip around here. Unless you really care about saving the earth and stuff, a cat is just extra $$$ for less hp... Save the earth though, I need some air to breath later on.

I think I'll go catless. Is there any real benefit to going ceramic coating or not in FL?

No its $10,000 for an individual, $25,000 of a shop.

Besides you wont find that much HP if any in a N/A car by removing the cats. Trust me on this one, I did it on my RS and ended up going with the Random Technologies cat. Opie has one too.
