i am thinking about purchasing a MRT downpipe and MRT uppipe for my wrx...i have been told that it will throw the CEL on and that u can either but this 20 dollar item that may not make it mess up or u can get it tuned for 1000bucks..i dont have enough money to get it tuned but i was think about that other 20 dollar item..what is the name of that item and will it posotivley make the CEL not come on and if the CEL does come on will that hurt my engine or could i just drive around with it on if i know what the problem is..i really want a DP and UP but i dont wanna pay an extra 1000 bucks for it to not throw the CEL on...thanks

It's the MIL Eliminator that you are talking about. It's just a resistor that gets placed in line in the wiring for the rear O2 sensor. It changes the reading so that the ECU thinks that there is still a cat in place. I have it in my car and have had no problems with it. The WRX doesn't use the rear O2 sensor for anything other then to monitor the emissions. The front O2 is the one that plays a part in open loop fuel tuning.
