Turbo Question
There is a guy in tampa called CMR Turbos, he told me that he could take my td04 and make the compressor side an equivilent to a 16g... he said if I keep the boost around 16lbs i wouldn't have to upgrade the feul system. Now my question to you guys is what do you think i should do? Hes charging 600 dollars to do it. Now keep in mind i have a very small budget, and I KNOW i should just get another turbo... I COULD afford another turbo, but I cannot afford all the other stuff I need (i.e. feul, etc)
Opinions please

I'm not sure what the results would be like doing the hybrid, so I can't comment much on that. But, I do know of a few people that have really pushed the limits of the stock fuel system and it didn't take much to do it. When I was researching boost controller info I was told by more then one reputable WRX tuner that the stock fuel system is capable of supporting ~17psi from the stock turbo. That being said, I don't know how comfortable I would be running 16psi on a turbo that could flow more cfm. Maybe someone with somemore knowledge can chime in and give their $0.02.
basically, the stock fuel rails are crap too.... cyl #3 has a reputation for one reason or another..... also, a TDO4 into a 16gk would be a skittle turbo..... i think. basically, i would at least upgrade the injectors, if not the rails/pump too!
as billy said, ive heard the same, the stock turbo maxes out the stock fuel stuff right around 17, Alan told me a few guys were in there with 18 psi, but i dont know how the ars turned out, for all i know, they might be fine, or they might be blown up....
as far as compressor changes, sometimes big compressor/too small of an exhaust housing = inefficiency.... which means, it might flow more air, creating more power, but that pig might also be heating up the air like crazy.... from what i know, a 16 can put a DSM in the 12's no bother, so... you should see similar results, i think.
although, with the stock intercooler, you have to pull some boost/timing advance possibly, seeing as that turbo might be less/more efficient... youll just have to wait and see i suppose...

you can easily run 16psi on the stock pump, injectors, and rails. there is a "monster TD-04" for sale on either nasioc or clubwrx for 400. i would not spend more than that on any td04.

For $600 you're getting close to VF22 or VF29 territory. Any of the above choices will require injector and rail upgrades.
