somethings i dont get.......
not looking to piss anyone off here, but honest questions. i get a wrx and i see what you all spend on parts, and in retrospect, its rediculious.
examples:
FIRST
$1100 for a small, internal wastegate turbo
$500 for a t3/t04b, $225 for external wastegate. yea u need a special down and uppipe... but you were going to buy 'bolt on' ones anyway. with the t3/t04 you can swap wheels and housings MUCH easier to accomidate rasing your power then these APS and IHIs.
Im glad sam has seen this as well.
SECOND
$1500 intercooler kits MRT,etc
$850 for GReddy
what the hell justifys the extra $650? greddy makes great intercoolers, and mandrel piping is mandrel piping if you retain correct diameters.
THIRD
not as major
catbacks- MRT, etc $800
apexi n1, greddy- $500
FOURTH
$375-$500 for perrin, mrt downpipes
GReddy- $170, drill the wastegate hole on the flange and add a dump tube, open or closed, probably 20-30 to do, so now you have a perrin downpipe for $200.
these are honest questions, so be constructive with ure responses. im not one to buy cheap parts (for all that knew my h22a turbo accord) i just dont see spending a lot of extra $$$ when one does the job just as well.

the core on the 1500 dollar intercoolers is practically twice the size as the greddy, and the greddy requires hacking the bumper beam, whereas the aps, i know from my own purchase, comes with a bolt on beam..also, the piping diameter is different, so i hear.... if you are that insistant on the t3/t4 setup, DO it! it would be sweet, but you would have to turn the intake piping, around the intake i would assume, the oil and water feed and drain from the turbo would change, and simply put, could be a pain in the ass for a daily driven car.. basically it seems like the exhaust systems are similar.. the hks carbon ti is "pretty" the evo is quiet, but the price difference is up to you. If you want other stuff, buy it.. and if you do a t3/t4, you have to take me for a ride!

*i just remembered ~ there are different turbines available for the aps turbos, mainly the 40, and the 30.. look at www.aps-wrx.com
besides, the australians have been making power with wrx's for years, reliable, strong, and most of the time, lots of power

i agree but there are products that you get what you pay for and some you just pay too much for, i have bought a shitload of parts for my wrx and some were well worth what i paid like the mrt intercooler in my opinion its worth the money its the biggest core available, along with aps, and is a well constucted kit with extremely nice piping but there are some that aren't worth the money like the up-pipe that i paid way to much for just to have the flex joint
but i definately agree with the turbo kits being too expensive but thats "jdm" for you but sam does have a good idea with his fab kit and seems to be well constructed

Why do people pay 1,200 for a mugen 4-1
600 for mugen axel back
I think it's part quality and part your the hot shit when you have hot shit parts
I think res23of's car is the hot shit, along with the rest of these looky what I got people on the forums. They got the parts and are proud of em. Wish I had some new parts to show off. O well life moves on, people get faster as I continully get slower by the day.
Welcome aboard to the rip off train. Parts will get cheap just give it time. I bought all my crap when it all just started.. now all my parts are on average 25% cheaper.

i didnt know the intercoolers are twice as large, ill have to research the actual deminsions sometime..... you dont always have to have the largest core anyway when a smaller can do the job as well.
the bumper cutting is a easy task usually, and would rather toss that for the extra $$$ i would have to spend for one pre fabbed for it.
i dont see why people think the t3/t04 turbo kit would make it any less streetable. you change coolant and oil lines some. if done correctly, it wouldnt sacrifice any daily driveability
$1200 for a mugen 4-1 is crazy i know, which is why id be the person that bought the DC race and save $700-800 and only sacrifice .0000005 HP.
i wont own any turbo kits for AWHILE. This is the 1st real warantee i have had and i want to take advantage of it as long as i can.
should have took a ride in the accord when i had it with its t3/t04e
it was pretty sick.

And this is why I wished I bought a GC wagon and swapped and converted, who knew blowing a tranny wouldn''t be covered.
And yes I am one of those fools that broke a tranny. Life moves on.

The relative value for a part from one person to the next is essentially impossible to quantify. Some people like the bling of the Blitz FMIC and were willing to pay $300 more for it than the GReddy. My understanding of FMICs is that maximum volume is not necessarily useful on a small turbo/moderate power application. I run a VF34 and the GReddy is a great match for my setup because it drops less boost, creates less additional lag and is fairly well designed. The GReddy also uses increasing pipe diameter in an effort to maximize air flow across the channel from turbo to intake manifold. As for hacking the bumper beam, almost every FMIC on th market requires modifcation or outright removal of the front bumper. This car was not designed to incorporate a FMIC after all.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find parts on my car that I did not at least get my money's worth out of on the performance side. From my wheels to my fuel rails, I feel fairly confident I got great bang-for-buck. I only have a few 'glamour' items here and there, but everyone buys those now and again.
Worth is a very subjective thing. What one person deems worth the expense another might consider a waste. It's a matter of personal preference and taste. In the end, if someone wants to spend the money, they should not be embarassed to do so. I know I wasn't.

Besides, your greddy core wasnt small at all! And ill be damned if the power numbers are much different!
But greddy intercoolers dont come in black
