Last FAST event of the 2009 competition year
I had one of the drift guys ride with me Sunday and he said that riding in my car was "scarier" than drifting. Here's why:
Looking at the videos, I timed drift boy at 12 seconds for a complete lap of the skidpad. Drew Scoda's Mustang did it in under 11 seconds. Doesn't sound like a huge difference, does it?
But, plugging those numbers into a spreadsheet I have for calculating G's on a skidpad and assuming that Drew was pulling about .9 G's shows that the skidpad radius is about 90 feet (it wasn't completely round, but that's close enough for comparison). The drifting 240 at 12 seconds? .77 G's.
Other comparisons:
My Yaris, 11 seconds (.91 G on crappy street tires)
Jack's S2000, 11 seconds (.91 G w/ race tires front, streets rear)
Carl's Miata, 10 seconds (1.1 G on race tires)
Tod's S2000, <10 seconds (1.1+ G on race tires)
Drifting is teh slow.

true story. Loren you are a exceptional driver. Your tire setup is on point. And I know that my drifting was not near as fast as the driving you were doing.
Im NOT arguing that, I dont know why you are crucifying me for it.

Is this the Charles I know? Anyway, please explain the use of Newb. Are you referring to a new site member, a new autox driver, etc... Therefore I will know how to react. Thanks! That goes for the guy who posted right after you too! That's right, I'm calling both of you out!

Newb can be used in many different forms, here it was used as a newb to the internet and phpBB message boards. In reality you were just blind and missed the video link post or too lazy to read every post in this thread

Either way it makes you look like a NEWB!!!!!
