On rare occasions, they do a special episode like this one. I guess I'm just a little put off by that because these guys haven't established their "routine" with their new audience well enough yet to be breaking from the routine.
I mean, they've done this episode, which was fun, but all about beater trucks and nothing else. They've blown at least two other episodes where weird and uninteresting tangents took away from the standards that we expect to see in an episode of Top Gear, namely the Star in a Cheap Car and some sort of a car review with a Stig lap. They can squeeze both of those things into about 15 minutes, but I think that both need to be included in nearly every episode.
Not sure what they're trying to do... maybe they don't trust the Top Gear formula that got them here in the first place? Maybe they want to try a bunch of different things and see which gets them better ratings? (which is silly, real TV series fans don't watch that way... but I guess executives don't think like real people)
